Hi All! I am not new to fishkeeping, & did have dwarf cichlids in the past. It was a miserable experience, because I had a very heavily planted tank with flourite, special substrates, the whole nine yards. I hated it because it was so messy, & my dwarf cichlids did not live long, either. Now, several years later, I have 3 successful tanks up & running - a 55G South American cichlid tank, a 75G African Rift Tank, & a 37G discus tank. Mty problem is my 12 G tank, which has been up & running well, with several rummynose tetras, a few Julii cory catfish, & 2 baby discus who are waiting to be placed in the 37G tank with the others. I have a floating live amazon sword, & a potted sword & an anubia. Also there is a nice piece of driftwood. WELL, my problem is I bought 9 Bolivian rams over a 2 day period, & 3 have died! I had 1 die the first day, which the LFS guy replaced, now a day later, I have 2 more dead. The water is warm, clean, & acidic - the other fish have been thriving. Can someone tell me if these rams are too delicate? I have had success with discus, for Pete's sake - so why are my rams so fragile? Any help would be much appreciated!! I plan to replace the 3 that died. I feed lightly twice a day. Help, please!

bolivian rams are hardy once established.

so many deaths in a small time could indicate bacterial infections.
also perhaps your water is ideal for rams (soft) but they are used to your local water or the water from whever they came from (not soft?) and the sudden change has caused issues.

do you know your params and those in the shop?
have the other rams in the shop been dieing?
